| dc.description.abstract2 | This study analyzes the constitutive role of language in the subject according to Freud and Lacan, drawing connections between Psychoanalysis, Linguistics, and Discourse Analysis. Adopting a qualitative approach and a theoretical-conceptual nature, the research is based on a literature review involving the interpretive and comparative reading of works by Freud and Lacan, integrated with theoretical contributions from Psychoanalysis, Linguistics, and Discourse Analysis. In Freud’s work, it becomes evident that the subject is not reducible to consciousness, as desires, repressed representations, and psychic conflicts remain active and resurface in dreams, slips of the tongue, parapraxes, and symptoms. Freudian topographies thus reinforce the understanding of a divided subjectivity, in which the Ego does not hold total mastery over psychic life. From this perspective, Lacan revisits this division and expands its linguistic dimension by conceptualizing the unconscious as structured like a language and the subject as an effect of the signifying chain and its relationship with the Other and the symbolic order. Thus, language functions not merely as a communication tool, but as a structuring condition for subjectivity and the production of meaning. The dialogue between these authors demonstrates that speech transcends conscious intention. We therefore consider that such formulations contribute to linguistic and discourse studies by understanding the subject as traversed by the unconscious, history, ideology, discursive memory, and the symbolic relations that constitute their social experience. | |
